Non-EU citizens who work remotely for companies outside of Spain or are self-employed with international clients can apply. You must demonstrate at least 3 years of relevant work experience or hold a university degree related to your profession.

Only if you’re self-employed. In that case, you can work with Spanish clients, but income from Spanish sources must not exceed 20% of your total income.

Yes, you can include your spouse or partner and dependent children in your application. You’ll need to prove additional income: 75% of the Spanish minimum wage for the first family member and 25% for each additional member.

As of 2025, you must demonstrate a monthly income of at least €2,520 (200% of the Spanish minimum wage). For dependents, add 75% of the minimum wage (€945) for the first dependent and 25% (€315) for each additional one.

If you apply from your home country, the visa is initially valid for 1 year. If you apply from within Spain, you can obtain a residence permit valid for 3 years.

Yes. You must have private health insurance that:

  • Provides comprehensive coverage, including hospitalization and emergencies.

  • Has no waiting periods or co-payments.

  • Is valid for the entire duration of your stay in Spain

This ensures you have access to healthcare without burdening Spain’s public system.​

Yes, if you reside in Spain for more than 183 days in a calendar year, you’ll be considered a tax resident. However, digital nomads may benefit from a special tax regime, potentially paying a reduced tax rate of 15% for the first four years.

Yes. Once you have your residency card, you can travel freely within the Schengen Area for short stays. However, this visa does not grant the right to work or reside in other EU countries.

You can be outside of Spain for up to 6 months within a calendar year without affecting your residency status.

Processing times vary, but you can generally expect a decision within 20 working days after submitting a complete application.
