Who we are

A boutique law firm, rooted in the Empordà.

Most of the legal work foreign residents on this coast need (buying a home, making a will, filing the annual tax, renewing a residence permit) goes through the notaries, the Land Registry and the courts of the Empordà. Our office is in Figueres, and we act throughout Catalonia, with most of our work across the province of Girona.

We are a boutique firm, specialised in the matters foreign residents bring us: property, inheritance, non-resident tax, residence and nationality. You work with the same team from the first email to the final signature, and you know what everything will cost before we begin.

What we do

Four things, done properly.

Buying and selling property

Independent conveyancing: the registry and cadastre checks, the arras contract written to protect you, licences, coastal and rural zoning, the notary, and everything that has to happen afterwards. We act for sellers too.

Buying property

Wills and inheritance

A Spanish will takes an hour and saves your family a year. Catalonia has its own succession law, and as a foreign national you may be able to choose which country’s law governs your estate. We also handle inheritances when someone has died.

Wills and inheritance

Tax for foreigners in Spain

Whether or not you are tax-resident in Spain, we handle the taxes that usually affect foreigners: the annual non-resident return (Modelo 210), even with the house empty; Wealth Tax, where Catalonia applies its own thresholds; the Modelo 720 declaration of assets held abroad; and the Beckham Law regime for new arrivals. Filed on time, so nothing is forgotten and nothing accrues surcharges.

For residentsFor non-residents

Residence, visas and citizenship

The other half of what this firm does. Digital nomad and non-lucrative visas, EU family member cards, renewals, and Spanish nationality by residence, including for people who bought here first and decided to stay.

How we work

What working with us looks like.

Independent, on your side

Estate agents, banks, sellers and official bodies all have their own interests. Ours is only yours: protecting your position, whether you are buying a home, applying for residence, planning your taxes or settling an inheritance.

Fixed fees, agreed upfront

You know what the work costs before it starts, and which taxes, official fees and third-party costs come on top. No hourly billing and no surprises halfway through, whatever the matter.

Clear answers, in your language

We explain every step in English, French or Spanish, tell you what is needed and when, and keep you updated without you having to chase us. Visa, tax return, purchase or inheritance, you always know where your case stands.

Questions

Before you write to us.

What legal services do you provide on the Costa Brava?

We advise international clients on buying and selling property, legal due diligence, Spanish wills and inheritance, non-resident tax obligations, immigration, residence permits and Spanish citizenship. Whether you are purchasing a holiday home, relocating permanently or managing assets in Spain, our aim is to help you make informed decisions and navigate the legal process with confidence.

Do you provide legal advice entirely in English?

Yes. We provide legal advice and communicate with our international clients in English, French and Spanish, including the preparation and review of relevant legal documentation. We make sure you understand the legal implications, costs and next steps before making important decisions.

Can you help me buy a property in Spain?

Yes. We can assist throughout the legal process, from reviewing the reservation or arras contract to checking ownership, potential charges, planning issues and relevant documentation, and coordinating the completion before a Spanish notary. Our role is to protect your legal interests, independently of the estate agent or seller.

Can I buy or sell a property without travelling to Spain?

In many cases, yes. Much of the process can be managed remotely, and certain formalities may be completed through a properly executed power of attorney. We will explain which steps can be handled on your behalf and whether your physical presence is required.

Do I need a Spanish will if I own property on the Costa Brava?

A Spanish will is not always legally mandatory, but it is often advisable for foreign property owners. It can simplify the administration of your Spanish estate and help avoid unnecessary complications for your heirs. We can also advise on the interaction between Spanish inheritance rules, Catalan succession law and applicable cross-border rules.

What taxes do non-resident property owners pay in Spain?

Depending on your circumstances, you may have obligations relating to Non-Resident Income Tax (Modelo 210), local property taxes, rental income and potentially Spanish Wealth Tax. Certain obligations can apply even when a property is not rented out. We help non-resident owners identify their filing requirements and manage their recurring tax obligations.

Can you help me relocate to Spain or obtain Spanish residency?

Yes. Immigration remains one of our core practice areas. We assist with digital nomad residence permits, non-lucrative visas, family residence applications, renewals and Spanish citizenship, among other procedures. We can also help you understand how your move may affect your tax position in Spain.

Do you only work with clients living on the Costa Brava?

No. While we serve clients with legal interests on the Costa Brava and throughout Catalonia, we also work with international clients across Spain and abroad. Many of our clients contact us before purchasing a property, relocating or becoming Spanish tax residents.

How much does it cost to instruct your law firm?

Our fees depend on the nature, complexity and scope of the matter. We provide a clear fee proposal before starting work, so you understand what is included. Where a paid legal consultation is appropriate, we explain the fee in advance and whether it can be credited towards subsequent legal services.

How do I get started?

Simply contact us with a brief description of your situation. Our team will review your enquiry and recommend the appropriate next step, whether that is a legal consultation, a document review or a proposal for a specific service.
